Cahaya Masa Depan could be translated as “Light of Future”. The

charity has two main missions.

The first is to support deserving and disadvantaged Indonesian

students by financing their access to high school or university. The

charity’s support would be tailored to each student’s needs whether

it is housing, school fees, and whether or not they are able to get

help from their families. The charity guarantees a personalized

follow-up for each student during their education (help in defining

objectives, follow-up of school reports, meetings with teachers,

moral support, etc.).

The second, which stems directly from the covid-19 crisis, is to

provide health assistance to those in need. This could take the form

of, for example, setting up medical visits in a village, or

distributing food and hygiene products to underprivileged

families.

For Batam, whose economy depended greatly on tourism, the impact of Covid-19 has been huge. Even before the pandemic began, there were already many families that were struggling to feed their young children and send them to school. These families survive mainly on a “daily salary” that would be used to purchase food and basic amenities.

We worked together with Willing Hearts and local parishes to send items necessary in 40ft container for the people in Batam and surrounding islands.
