ABOUT THE MISSION

💬 ABOUT THE MISSION

In the stillness of the mountains in northern Thailand, a child cries out in pain. There is no hospital. No paved road. No light in the night. Only fragile huts clinging to steep ridges, cold air biting through thin walls, and families waiting—hoping that someone, somewhere, will come.

We will be that someone.

Hidden deep in the mountains of Chiang Mai’s Fang District are remote villages where poverty is compounded by isolation. Ethnic minority communities—the Karen, Hmong, and Lahu—have lived for generations without access to basic healthcare, infrastructure, or support. When illness strikes, there is often nowhere to turn.

This March, we invite you to join us on a mission of compassion—a journey not to where it is comfortable, but to where it is needed.

🌺 A MISSION OF FAITH, NOT JUST A TRIP

This is not a sightseeing trip.

It is not about photos or “experience.”

This is a call—not just to go, but to love without conditions, and to be present where hope has grown thin.

It is a call to walk alongside the forgotten, to serve the poor and the suffering, and to say with our presence, “You are seen. You are loved. You are not forgotten.”

This is a mission of faith, courage, and self-giving love. Rooted in the heart of the Gospel, it flows from the belief that every human life is sacred—and that Christ often comes to meet us disguised as the poor.

To serve these communities is not merely to help.
It is to encounter Christ Himself.

✝️ LENT BEGINS WITH ST JOSEPH: THE QUIET COURAGE TO SERVE 🌿

Our mission begins on 19 March, the Feast of St Joseph, in the heart of Lent. This is no coincidence.

St Joseph, the protector of the Holy Family, teaches us a faith lived in silence, obedience, and action. When God called, he rose without hesitation, placing the safety of others before his own comfort. He trusted—and he went.

To begin our mission on his feast day is to place this journey under his care.

As Lent calls us to conversion through prayer, sacrifice, and charity, St Joseph shows us how to live this call faithfully: serving without recognition, loving without conditions, and acting with courage when no one is watching.

We go to the mountains of Fang in his spirit—to protect life, accompany the forgotten, and serve with quiet strength.

“To serve others is to reign.”
— St Josemaría Escrivá

May St Joseph guide our steps as we say yes to God and go where we are needed most.

🌾What We Will Do 🎯

During this mission trip, we will engage in a range of impactful activities designed to bring hope, healing, and empowerment to the community in Fang.

  1. Distribute Essential Aid: Provide winter wear, blankets, mattresses and hygiene supplies, including toiletries, toothbrushes, and soap.

  2. Sustainable Shelters: Building houses using recycled pet bottles.

  3. Empower Women: Teach girls and women about menstrual health and breast self-examination and distribute reusable sanitary pads. Training for sanitary pad production and other sustainable products, fostering self-sustainability and creating income opportunities.

  4. Regenerative Agriculture: Introduce sustainable agriculture and food preservation techniques to help families sustain themselves e.g. corn, mushroom.

  5. Clean Water and Solar Power: Equip community with water filtration system and solar-powered lighting.

  6. First-Aid: Provide basic medical supplies and training to set up satellite health posts.

🙏 PILGRIMAGE TO THE SACRED HEART CATHEDRAL, CHIANG MAI 🌸

🙏 PILGRIMAGE TO THE SACRED HEART CATHEDRAL, CHIANG MAI 🌸

Our mission will culminate in a pilgrimage to the

Sacred Heart Cathedral in Chiang Mai, one of the most beautiful and spiritually rich churches in North Thailand. Built in the mid-20th century through the collaboration of Pastor G. Merabell and a local monk, the Cathedral symbolizes Christian unity and hope.

Its European-inspired architecture, with a dome crowned by a cross, stained-glass windows, and intricate carvings—especially the main wooden door—reflect a deep reverence for the sacred.

During the pilgrimage, we will:

  • Offer thanksgiving prayers for the success of our mission.

  • Present sealed petitions to Our Blessed Mother, seeking her intercession for healing, reconciliation, financial difficulties, and other needs.

  • Pray for the people of Fang and our loved ones back home.

Submit Your Petitions:

If you or someone you know would like us to bring a prayer intention, please write it down, seal it in an envelope, and give it to us a week before we depart. Your petitions will be prayerfully offered and then privately burned as a final act of surrender to God.

🧺How You Can Help

🧺How You Can Help

  • Volunteer: Be a part of the mission and experience the joy of serving Christ by bringing hope to this community.

  • Donate: Support by donating preloved or surplus items like clothing, especially winter ones, medical supplies (paracetamol, antibiotics, creams, bandages, thermometers, etc.) Water development equipment. Solar panels for home lighting. Please do not buy these items as they can be purchased much cheaper in Chiang Mai and would not add to our baggage allowance.

  • Sponsor a Volunteer: If you cannot join, consider sponsoring someone willing to serve but unable to afford the expenses.

  • Pray for Us: Offer your spiritual support and pray for the refugees and the missioners on this trip.

✨Commitment
