On 15 August 2026, a magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck East Nusa Tenggara in eastern Indonesia, leaving at least 100 people dead and around 1,600 injured. Approximately 180,000 people have been forced to evacuate their homes following the earthquake and thousands of aftershocks. More than 73,000 homes have been damaged, leaving families without safe shelter and in urgent need of humanitarian assistance and support to begin rebuilding their lives.

Project Location: Indonesia – Flores, East Nusa Tenggara

Overall Objective: To provide emergency relief and recovery assistance to communities affected by the earthquake.

• Providing personal hygiene kits and other essential relief items to meet immediate needs.
• Supporting ongoing recovery, rehabilitation and rebuilding efforts, guided by needs identified by Caritas Indonesia and partner organisations.
• Responding to emerging humanitarian needs and providing additional assistance to affected communities as the situation evolves.

** All donations will be used for the objectives stated. Where there are excess funds after meeting the needs of this specific crisis, or arising from circumstances that prevent us from legally delivering aid to this emergency, or where donations are received after the official closure of the fundraising campaign, the funds will be used for other overseas humanitarian aid and disaster relief efforts of the Archdiocese of Singapore, in accordance with the laws and regulations of Singapore.

Caritas Indonesia (KARINA Foundation) was legally established on May 17, 2006 and is an official humanitarian agency belonging to KWI (Indonesian Bishops' Conference) with a mandate as the center for coordination, facilitation and animation of the Catholic Church in Indonesia in carrying out humanitarian missions, especially to help disaster victims of natural and man-made disasters.
