On 26 August 2026, a devastating flash flood struck Rasuwa District, Nepal, after the Bhote Koshi River overflowed.

As of 1 September 2026, 1000 people have been reported dead and more than 3,900 remain missing, with thousands more affected. These figures are expected to change as search and rescue efforts continue. The disaster has destroyed critical infrastructure and left many families without shelter or livelihoods, creating an urgent need for relief and rebuilding support.

OBJECTIVES

Overall Objective:

To provide emergency relief, recovery, and humanitarian assistance to communities affected by floods and related disasters, including responses to emerging needs and priorities.

Key Areas of Support:

  • Provide emergency assistance, including funds, food, shelter, and other essential needs, through Caritas Nepal, or where necessary, our known local partners, and organisations approved by the church and the relevant authorities.
  • Procure and distribute essential supplies, relief materials, and other humanitarian items needed to support affected communities.
  • Support recovery, rehabilitation, and rebuilding efforts as needs emerge and resources allow.
  • Direct funds to other appropriate humanitarian responses or emerging needs in affected communities, where necessary.

Where there are excess funds after meeting the needs of this specific crisis, or arising from circumstances that prevent us from legally delivering aid to this emergency, or where donations are received after the official closure of the fundraising campaign, the funds will be used for other overseas humanitarian aid and disaster relief efforts of the Archdiocese of Singapore, in accordance with the laws and regulations of Singapore.
