HIGHLIGHTS

Updates - 15 December 2023

On 3 November 2023, CHARIS disbursed S$50,000 as Rapid Response for the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Across the Gaza Strip, over 46,000 homes were destroyed, and more than 234,000 housing units were damaged. These constitute over 60 percent of the housing stock, as reported by the Global Shelter Cluster. For the seven days of hostilities' pause since 24 November 2023, the local Caritas team provided primary healthcare to the most vulnerable communities in southern Gaza.

HIGHLIGHTS

Updates - 6 February 2024

CHARIS would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our donors for their support of the Humanitarian Aid to Gaza Campaign. We have collected a total of SGD 430,000 through both online and offline donations. We are collaborating closely with Caritas Internationalis to disburse the funds in aid of the urgent needs on the ground.

HIGHLIGHTS

Updates - 15 March 2024

On 20 February 2024, CHARIS disbursed SGD 431,000 to support the National Caritas in The Holy Land. These funds will serve multiple purposes: renovating medical centers affected by recent attacks, enhancing healthcare access in Gaza and the West Bank, and improving mental health support services. Additionally, cash assistance will be provided to enable individuals in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem to purchase basic necessities.

HIGHLIGHTS

Updates - 30 April 2024

By 18 March 2024, 75 percent of Gaza's population—approximately 1.75 million out of 2.3 million—had faced displacement and severe challenges, including shortages of essential services. Despite this, our partners have significantly aided communities by providing bedding to 13,000 families, tarps to 10,000 families, and tents to 480 families. Additionally, 98,000 households received food parcels, and 28,000 households were given cash assistance. These efforts meet immediate needs, support individuals in dire circumstances, and enhance community well-being.

Story

An urgent need for humanitarian relief in Gaza has arisen following the Israel-Hamas conflict.  Millions have been displaced, thousands have lost their lives and countless have been wounded and gone missing.

In collaboration with Caritas Internationalis, CHARIS is responding to the call to provide relief for the people affected by the conflict, marked by limited access to critical medical treatment and basic necessities. The funds are to improve the general welfare of the people affected by the conflict, including but not limited to the provision of primary health services and essential medicine to patients, food and hygiene kits, as well as to support the staff on the ground serving the people of Gaza and the region.

Let us respond in love to our brothers and sisters who are affected by the conflict. We welcome Catholics in Singapore who desire to contribute by donating generously and joining us in prayer for peace.

Objectives
