In the past months, the people of the Philippines have endured wave after wave of devastating disasters. On 5 November 2025, Typhoon Kalmaegi, locally known as Tino, tore through the country, claiming more than 100 lives and displacing over 200,000 people from their homes. It was the 20th storm to strike the Philippines this year—coming on the heels of a 6.9 magnitude earthquake in northern Cebu and another 6.8 magnitude quake that shook eastern Mindanao.
Before communities could recover, Typhoon Fung-wong (10 November 2025) brought yet another round of torrential rains, flash floods, and landslides, further compounding the suffering of already vulnerable families. Homes, livelihoods, and crops have been destroyed; access to clean water, food, and shelter has become critically scarce.
In the face of these overlapping crises, thousands of Filipino families are struggling to rebuild their lives and regain hope. CHARIS and our partners are working to provide urgent relief to alleviate their suffering.
