The Canossian Daughters of Charity is an
International Religious Institute founded in 1808 in Italy by St. Magdalene of
Canossa. It was established in Singapore in 1894. Presently there are 50
Canossian Sisters serving in Singapore and Myanmar.
The Sisters
are engaged in a wide range of ministries of charity to serve all who are in
need, especially the poorest, thus bringing meaning to their lives.
In Singapore
they are engaged in education, catechesis, pastoral care of the sick, elderly
and terminally ill, counselling, youth ministry, prison ministry, inter-religious
dialogue, formation of the laity, retreat work and spiritual direction.
In Myanmar,
they are involved in the formation of children and youth. They give training to
young women to be educators of children in villages, and provide vocational
training in hospitality skills to prepare young women for employment.
The Sisters
share their mission with a wide network of lay associates and volunteers who
draw inspiration from the Canossian spirituality. Formation is offered to those
interested in volunteering their services in Myanmar.
Canossian Daughters of Charity seek to communicate God’s love through service to all who are most in need of education, evangelization, assistance in sickness and spiritual formation, helping them to find meaning and purpose in life, together with lay associates and volunteers.
